Not everyone realizes that we have gifts for men. I see the men who walk in, scan the store looking for a corner to fall into or simply walk right back out the door. But when you take a deeper look at the curated selection you’ll see that PROCESS bends the gender norm when it comes to “boutique” shopping. While many, many men shop at PROCESS, it’s worth learning what makes us more than surface level.
When curating a collection for any holiday we try to think about the ways we connect with others. We also want to be sure to inspire someone to take the time for themself they normally wouldn’t prioritize. I pull inspiration from my own partner and co-parent, Zay, when thinking about giving gifts to men.
Zay rarely gets the time he needs because after working a 10 hour shift he still has dinner to cook, get to dance on Tuesdays, bathe them and put them to bed most days of the week. On the weekend he’s entertaining the kids while trying to get goat chores done around the homestead. Often he’ll be running to the farmers market on a Saturday followed by a playground trip that afternoon all while waiting to hear who I’ve invited over last minute for dinner. His alone time is usually two kids napping on his chest playing games on his phone.
Outside of nerding out at Galaxy for the occasional Magic the Gathering pre-release, Zay has a creative side. But as any parent with two young kids knows, there isn’t always time to let loose. Our Emily Lex watercolor books have been one of Zay’s favorite ways to make art while monitoring the kids during their own craft times. With the indigenous made Beam Paints palette the whole experience is taken to the next level.
I often daydream of pre-kid days making out and smoking cigs on the porch. Neither of us smokes cigarettes now, cause ewwww! But when I consider our Native ancestors smoking as part of ceremony and for medicinal reasons, I sought out something more natural than commercial tobacco as a way to incorporate it back into our lives. The Magick Makers natural herb smoking blends we got in are so smooth and just the treat when we can get away from the kids for a bit.
