Sanitize your disc before first use and before or after each period. You can do this by boiling your disc, or wiping with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
During your period, you will want to clean your disc at least once every 12 hours. You can do so by rinsing the disc with cold water (to prevent staining) and then washing the disc with hot water and wash that's mild, pH-balanced, fragrance-free, oil-free, and rinses clean with no residue.
